I believe the Industrial Revolution was beneficial for Australia, as it enabled easier money for many people. While considering the jobs that were lost, I also considered the fact that it meant less people would have such a vigorous lifestyle. From learning about living conditions that would not’ve improved if it weren't for the machine made resources that were result of industrialisation I think the Industrial Revolution saved many lives, albeit a bit untrue in the beginning, the fruits of success gained from less manual labour led people to happier lives. Faster production rates meant good money for business owners and more affordable goods for consumers. Business owners benefited because they sold more, thus earning more profit and lowering the price of many products, therefore making affordable living easier for consumers.
However, I also believe the Luddites were right to fight for their jobs, because how else would they make a living in such a divided society? Women couldn’t vote or work, and if they did, they were asked to do the most strenuous of jobs, resulting in injury, disfiguration, etc. Everyone below the aristocratic class lived hard lives, constantly working, void of enjoyment.
Although the vulgar events throughout the beginning of the Industrial Revolution resulted in the loss of many lives, I believe their loss contributed to a greater future, a future with much less loss, the future of now. In the beginning of this revolution, the world underwent the hardships upon hardships and endured, and it resulted in the world we live in today.
And so, I believe Australia wouldn't be nearly as tech-forward, and amazing as it is now without the help of the Industrial Revolution.
